So, you’re cruising along on your snowmobile, enjoying the ride and scenery on a brisk winter’s day. The trail is groomed, there’s plenty of snow and things are looking good. Well, where are you? It’s quite possible that you’re riding the snowmobile trails provided by the Marcell Snowdrifters Snowmobile Club.
The club maintains 126.5 miles of trail in northern Itasca County. The communities of Marcell, Talmoon, Bigfork and Effie are all connected by the snowmobile trail. Additionally, there are connections to the northwest to reach the Blue Ox Trail that runs between Bemidji and International Falls, connections to the east to reach the State Taconite Trail that runs between Grand Rapids and Ely, connections to the south that connect to the Suomi Trail which will take you through the Chippewa National Forest and connections to the west that will take you to Northome, Blackduck and Lake Winnibigoshish. Throughout the Snowdrifters trails there is great scenery with tall majestic pines, vistas of frozen lakes and the occasional wildlife. The trail offers something for everyone. |
